Project Details

The project involved rehabilitation of both the north and south tubes; concrete replacement of the brick liner in the north tube as well as new concrete direct fixation track. Additionally, the design provided for a new positive flow drainage system with tunnel life safety upgrades such as lighting, ventilation, and emergency egress. Upon completion, only the Bergen Tunnel’s north tube was constructed and featured waterproofed ceilings and walls; new electrical, signal and ventilation systems; new emergency exits; a new concrete floor; and new tracks affixed directly to the concrete floor.
